Update on Teacher Growth Calculations for the 2020-2021 School Year

May 28, 2021

The FDOE Emergency Order No. 2021-E—02 issued on April 9, 2021 provided additional flexibility for student growth scores.

DTU asked members to be involved in the feedback to the district about the Emergency Order.  Teachers came together on multiple Teams meetings to provide feedback on different options.  The consensus from all grade/subject areas was to keep the same assessment that was in place in the CAST Manual.   All scores will be calculated at the district level using a district formula.

Please note that these changes are only in effect for the 2020-2021 school year for the growth score calculation.

The CAST Measures document has been revised to reflect the input received from the teachers, DTU Leadership, and District Leadership.   Please see the attached revised CAST Measures for the 2020-2021 School Year.

In addition to these changes, if a student does not complete their district post-assessment, district EOC, State FSA, or State EOC, the teacher will not be penalized for these missing scores.  Students missing the end-of-course assessment will not be included in the teacher’s denominator for the 2020-2021 school year.   The 3 year average growth score will be calculated with available data from the 17-18, 18-19, and 20-21 school years.  The 20-21 school year is the only year that the rule is applicable for the missing tests.
