The Florida Legislative session began on January 11, 2022 and is scheduled to end on March 11, 2022. DTU encourages all its members to stay up to date and informed on what is happening in the 2022 Legislative Session. We encourage you to get involved! Contact Legislators as the session progresses.

Our parent organization, the Florida Education Association (FEA), and DTU will have updates on proposed legislation and alert you to ways you can stay involved. To stay involved daily, visit the FEA website. Click on the first banner: “2022 Legislative Session Page”. Select “The Week Ahead” to view the day-to-day session activities.

What goes on in the Florida Legislature directly impacts what happens in your classroom. Legislation passed during the session can impact areas such as your certification, funding for classroom materials, curriculum, your accountability, testing, health and safety, your salaries and more. It is important that you contact your legislators to let them know how you feel about legislation being considered that may impact educators positively or negatively.

A listing for the Duval Delegation of Legislators with their contact information can be found below along with flyers about FEA’s Legislative Focus. Please don’t hesitate to contact your legislators as needed. Remember, they are accountable to you for the legislation they pass.
