Duval Teachers United

UPDATE: Ballot Count Rescheduled due to Post Office Delay

December 16, 2020

Attention all Teacher Unit Members:

We have been in communication with the postal service and members from different zip codes, and unfortunately it appears people still have not received their contract ratification ballots.  We have also seen articles showing that the USPS is experiencing historic gridlocks, due to the holiday season and employees in quarantine.  Below your will find links to several of those articles.

Although our hope was that we would be able to count ballots prior to the winter break, we cannot move forward knowing that there are teacher unit members who have not yet received their ballots.  It is of the utmost importance that we maintain the integrity and engagement of all unit members and give everyone an opportunity to cast a ballot.

In that sentiment we intend to count ballots on January 5, 2021 at noon.  This should enable everyone to receive their ballot by mail, return their ballot by mail, or bring it to the DTU office located at 1601 Atlantic Blvd., Jacksonville, FL 32207 before noon on January 5, 2021.  If you choose to come to the DTU office to obtain a ballot please make sure you bring proper identification with you.

DTU will be open December 16th and 17th until 5 pm and December 18th until noon to pick up a ballot and vote in the office or return a ballot received in the mail.  DTU has a mail slot located at the backdoor if anyone wishes to return their ballot during the winter break when the office is closed.

DTU will return from break January 4th and will be open from 8:30 am to 5 pm to obtain a ballot.   You also may come to the office before noon on January 5th to obtain a ballot or return a ballot.

Happy Holidays!  Enjoy your well-deserved break and stay safe!
