January 9, 2025 Dear Members, Happy New Year! As we welcome 2025, we want to take a moment to reflect on the incredible progress we’ve made together over the past year and share our plans for the work ahead. Your unwavering support and dedication have been the driving force behind our achievements, and we couldn’t be more grateful. Celebrating Our Accomplishments 2024 was a year of significant progress for DTU and its members: Settled Contract & Pay Increases: We successfully settled a contract that includes well-deserved pay increases and positive changes to working conditions, ensuring a better environment for all. Engaged Executive Board: Our executive board has been more active and engaged than ever, working tirelessly to represent and advocate for you. Financial Transparency & Budget Reduction: We’ve made strides toward greater financial transparency, achieving a remarkable 50% reduction in the DTU budget without compromising the quality of our services. Health Insurance: Through persistent bargaining, we secured the option for non-contributory health insurance, a critical benefit for many of our members. Community Outreach: We organized collection drives to support individuals experiencing homelessness and assist the humane society, participated in the 5K for breast cancer awareness, and hosted “Paint, Chat, and Chew” nights that fostered fellowship among educators and facilitated meaningful conversations with school board members. Looking Ahead to 2025 These milestones are a testament to the power of unity and collective advocacy. Thank you for standing with us to make these victories possible. As we move into this new year, our focus remains on protecting your rights and advancing our profession. Here’s what’s on the horizon: 2025-26 Contract Negotiations: Preparations are already underway as we gear up to return to the bargaining table. We are committed to securing a strong contract that reflects your needs and priorities. Student Progression Plan Committee: We are gathering interest for representation on this critical committee. If you’re passionate about shaping policies that impact our students, we encourage you to get involved. Everyday Advocacy: Every day, we continue to fight to protect your contract, uphold your rights, and advocate for the professionals who make our district thrive. We’re Here for You Your support and advocacy make everything we do possible. Please know that the DTU office is always here to assist you. If you need help or have questions, don’t hesitate to reach out to us. Together, we will continue to make a difference for our members and the students we serve.
