Professional Development Update
Certification deadlines are coming soon. Certification requirements are the responsibility of the employees.
Professional Development Points:
DCPS began using the TalentEd system during 2018-2019 school year. Any workshops taken prior to the transition are being transferred from ERO to the TalentEd system. This is a long and tedious process, and the Tech Department is working on this process. Don’t panic. If you need to check your existing points for recertification or column movement, go to your bookkeeper or principal’s secretary and ask them to pull your points record from SAP. All of your points are documented in SAP.
If you have taken any professional development courses with DTU during the 2018-2019 school year, your points are posted in TalentEd. If you have any questions on the points for DTU workshops, call 904-396-4063.
Certification and Recertification:
If you have to renew your Professional Teaching Certificate make sure that you have followed the directions on the district website and have all documents uploaded by June 30, 2019. Your renewal application and documents must be submitted by June 30, 2019. The link for the DCPS certification page is: https://dcps.duvalschools.org/Page/18014. It is the responsibility of the employees to meet the certification requirements and become certified/re-certified in the subject or area they teach in the allotted time frame or certificate expiration date. Proof of the new certificate must be provided to Human Resources.
While Certification does send out email notifications to “out of field” employees, they assume no responsibility if you don’t read or act on the notifications. The result for not meeting the requirements to become certified/re-certified in the specified time frame is job termination.
