We’re In This Together!

April 19, 2020

Florida Governor, Ron DeSantis, announced Saturday evening that K-12 schools in the state of Florida will remain closed through the rest of the 2019-2020 school year. Teachers and students will continue distance teaching and learning until then. Florida students were set to return to school on May 4th before the Governor’s announcement.

Both Duval and St. John’s Counties have announced graduation ceremonies will be held but delayed until summer. DeSantis said he will announce on Monday the members of a new Task Force created to begin looking at when and how to reopen businesses, schools, and other aspects of life in the state.

DTU will be meeting with Duval County Public Schools to negotiate the closing of school responsibilities for employees (i.e. completing IEP’s, cum folders, scholarship warnings, attendance, report cards, determining grades, retention and promotion criteria etc.). We will advise you of procedures as soon as we meet with DCPS.

In the meantime, please continue to adhere to CDC guidelines regarding the use of masks and social distancing. Stay safe.
