Strategies for Student Success: Teach Them to Think

Session Focus
Embracing “skillful thinking” as a major education goal is critical if education must fulfill its promise of producing “educated citizens.” This is not to say that “thinking” is not being taught in schools, but in most cases the emphasis is on the product –the answer‐rather than
the process – thinking ‐. Such an approach leaves student thinking “implicit,” and as a result, little can be done to clarify student’s thinking in a way that can yield more thoughtful responses.

This session is worth 10 points.  Participants have to complete a follow-up to receive the full 10 points.
